Cumberland Conservation Collaborative – General Meeting

 

Meeting Notes – April 3, 2017 – Cumberland Valley Visitors Bureau, Carlisle

Among Topics and information shared were:

 

• Members are requested to help publicize the upcoming Educational Forum on Thursday May 11th at the Penn Township Fire Hall at 1750 Pine Road Newville, PA  17241.  The event is free and open to the public.  Sandwiches, cookies and beverages will be provided.  A four person moderated panel discussion will focus on how can we protect and preserve the environment and provide adequate outdoor recreational activities for our and future generations as the area continues to experience population and development growth.

• All members are asked to provide educational displays and literature of your group/organizations focus.  This will be an opportunity to interest and possibly recruit volunteers

​

• The South Mountain Partnership has mini-grants ranging from $2000-$15,000 available.  Deadline for applications is June 1st.  Contact Katie Hess khess@appalachiantrail.org for more information.

• Cumberland County Land Partnership Grant Program is seeking additional applications.  Deadline is also June 1st.  It is beneficial to have letters of support from any and all Municipalities in which the work which the grant application entails will be done.  Stephanie Williams sjwilliams@ccpa.net is available to answer questions.

• All participating groups are asked to promote a final push to fill out The County Comprehensive Plan Survey.  This is our mutual opportunity to help guide the future decision making processes in our County.  Contact Stephanie Williams  sjwilliams@ccpa.net for a link to the survey.
